Delhi Police: 'Vada Pav' Girl Not Arrested, No Charges Filed

In response to a viral video, the Delhi Police addressed the situation surrounding Chandrika Dixit, affectionately known as the 'vada pav' girl, who operates a food stall in the Mangolpuri area on the outskirts of the city.

They clarified that she was not arrested and no charges were filed against her. The police explained that a video circulating online showed woman constables accompanying Dixit, but it was merely a confrontation, not an arrest.

According to authorities, Dixit runs her stall without proper authorization from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and gained popularity on Instagram due to the support of various food bloggers and YouTubers.

Recently, she organized a public feast on the road without MCD permission, causing traffic congestion and inconvenience to the public. Upon receiving complaints, officials confronted her and brought her to the police station, leading to the viral video.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the area clarified that Dixit was never arrested, and no case was registered against her. The MCD had issued a fine to her for her unauthorized activities.

"When there was a large crowd at her stall and complaints were lodged against her, she was detained for a while. However, no charges were filed against the vada pav vendor, and she was not arrested," the police stated.
